The B.C. Lions have signed former NFL defensive back Tyler Coyle.
The six-foot-one, 215-pound native of Windsor, Conn. signed with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2021 and played three games with the team, recording eight tackles.
The 25-year-old signed with the Houston Gamblers of the USFL in 2023 but became a free agent when the team folded amid the XFL-USFL merger. He was in training camp with the Green Bay Packers and Cleveland Browns in 2024 but was released before the start of the regular season.
Coyle made 260 total tackles, 18 pass knockdowns, three interceptions, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and two touchdowns over 35 collegiate games at the University of Connecticut. He transferred to Purdue University for his final collegiate season where he made 13 defensive tackles over three games.
The B.C. Lions (8-8) will visit the Saskatchewan Roughriders (8-7-1) on Saturday, Oct. 12 with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m. EDT.
