Kim Mulkey gets over the loss of Angel Reese with Flau’jae Johnson at LSU thanks to Nick Saban’s wisdom

An exceptional display by Flau’jae Johnson proved the LSU Tigers have finally moved on from Angel Reese as they crushed the Eastern Kentucky Demons 95-44 to maintain their 100% start to the season, with their head coach following the advice of Nick Saban.

The side took to the court at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center with Johnson recording 21 points, five rebounds and two assists as she looks to establish herself as the dominant name in Baton Rouge.

And it turns out that by aiming to do so, she’s following the words of Saban, ESPN’s commentator and former NCAA coach, who called for the players to bring the most value possible to the team and their own individual personhoods.

“I would say the most important thing for everybody here is how can you create the most value for yourself, by the choices you make as a person, as a student, and as a player,” Saban told the team hours before tip-off. “All of those things are going to help you become more successful in life.

“When I was here as a coach, and when I was in Alabama as a coach, it was about how can we help our players be more successful in life because they were involved in the program?

Saban warns there are more important things than winning

Nick Saban knows a thing or two about triumph in sport after claim seven national championships and 11 SEC titles.

But even the 73-year-old is aware that some things are simply more important than claiming a victory as he warned LSU’s young stars to stay focused on ‘the process’.

“I know winning is important, but being able to stay focused on the things that help you win, which is what I call ‘The Process,’ is more important than anything.

“Then, you transfer that into your life, you’ll have a tremendous amount of success and then you’ll be happy and self-fulfilled, and I think that’s the most important thing. I’m going to watch how you guys do. I still root for LSU all the time- except for when they’re playing Alabama.”
