Ohio State 5-Star WR Commit Has shocking Response to Michigan Offer.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are fresh off of a national title, but the program is already fighting to keep its best players and top recruits. Immediately after the national title win over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish earlier this month, the Buckeyes learned that star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith had a reported $4.5 million offer to transfer to a different program. While Smith doesn’t appear to be on the move, that’s just the start of the offseason fights for the Buckeyes. On Wednesday afternoon a new report suggested the Michigan Wolverines were looking at a top Ohio State commit and mounting its NIL resources for an offer.

Michigan recruiting insider EJ Holland suggested the Wolverines have the NIL backing to make a run at top wide receiver recruit Chris Henry Jr. “Michigan has the NIL backing to make a push for five-star Ohio State WR commit Chris Henry Jr. Will the Wolverines do just that? It’s no secret Bryce Underwood needs an elite weapon…” Holland said on social media.

It didn’t take long for Henry to respond. In a post on social media, the five-star wide receiver shared a photo of Ohio State wide receivers coach and co-offensive coordinator Brian Hartline smoking a cigar after the national title.

That seems to be a clear indication that Henry doesn’t plan on backing down from his Ohio State pledge heading into the 2026 season. Ryan Day and company will certainly keep their eyes on this, though, and ensure that Henry feels the love.
