De’Aaron Fox played ‘pivotal role’ in recruiting DeMar DeRozan to Kings Report: De'Aaron Fox Was Pivotal in DeRozan's Recruitment

De’Aaron Fox was very active in trade talks and solidifying the case for DeMar DeRozan to join the Sacramento Kings.

De’Aaron Fox is looking to bring success back to Sacramento and could be one step closer to bringing a championship to the city.

On Saturday, the Kings finalized a trade with the Chicago Bulls that sent All-Star guard DeMar DeRozan out west.

DeRozan, a six-time All-Star and three-time All-NBA selection, will now team up with Fox in the Kings backcourt, forming a very formidable duo. He’s coming off of a season when he averaged 24 points for just the fourth time in his 15-year career. He also led the NBA in minutes per game at 37.8 per game.

As expected, Fox was instramental in getting the trade done and played a ‘pivotal role’ in Saturday’s meeting with DeRozan.

“Sacramento Kings star De’Aaron Fox played a pivotal role by joining today’s meeting to help recruit DeMar DeRozan,” NBA insider Chris Haynes wrote. “The two are ecstatic about partnering together on the court.”

The Kings sent Harrison Barnes to the Spurs and Chris Duarte, two second-round picks and cash to the Chicago Bulls on the other end of the sign-and-trade deal.

DeRozan and the Kings land on a three-year deal in return.

The Kings are looking to improve on a 46-36 season last year where they failed to get out of the Play-In round of the playoffs.

The year before, it was a 7-game series and eventual loss to the Golden State Warriors in the first round after securing a 3-seed.

Fox is coming off of a career year averaging 26.6 points per game while shooting 36.9 percent from three — the highest mark since his second year in the league.

The Kings now have a core of Fox, DeRozan, Domantas Sabonis, Malik Monk and Keegan Murray.
