HEART BREAKING NEWS: Simon McBride Announce To Leave Band Due To…

Legendary former member of Deep Purple Glenn Hughes says of his current group, “This will possibly be the last band that I’m in.” Black Country Communion Glenn Hughes acknowledges that he might not be able to play in bands for much longer.

Glenn Hughes has one of the best resumes in rock history, having played with Deep Purple, Trapeze, and having a lengthy and successful solo career. The 72-year-old, however, believes that this group may be his last.

The fifth album, V, by Hughes’ all-star supergroup Black Country Communion, which also includes drummer Jason Bonham, guitarist Joe Bonamassa, and keyboardist Derek Sherinian, was just released. The singer/bassist, though, claims he has no intention of starting a new band in the near future.

Hughes states of BCC in a recent interview with Classic Rock, “I want people to know that this will possibly be the last band that I’m in. I’m almost done with this new album I’m going to be making on my own. Furthermore, I genuinely think of Black Country Communion as a band of brothers. After this, I can’t fathom joining another band.

While Hughes hasn’t ruled out recording another Black Country Communion album, he acknowledges that time is a major factor in the same interview.

To be honest, he says, “I don’t know if there’s even going to be one.” The question is, “Will there be enough time? You are aware of my advanced age, and the truth is that I want to continue doing this for as long as I can. My friends have vanished, passed away, retired, or done anything else. Among the few remaining members of the early 1970s gang, I am one of them. Not that [another BCC album] won’t happen. However, if one is to occur, it must do so within the next few years.

“When I’m eighty, I don’t want to be doing this,” he declares. “I don’t think I’ll be doing this when I’m eighty, but I know there are a few of my friends who are eighty and still doing it. Not in my opinion.
