In the past, Green voiced his lack of motivation regarding the play-in tournament. In 2021, he stated, “Fighting for a play-in spot does not motivate me at all.” He emphasized his desire to win every game but expressed that the concept of the play-in didn’t inspire him.

However, his stance has evolved over time. By 2022, Green acknowledged the tournament’s entertainment value, calling it “the best thing ever created” for basketball. He appreciated how it intensified the competitiveness of the season’s final stretch.
