‘Here We Go’ – Fabrizio Romano
‘s next painful exit
Well, that’s that. Kyle Walker-Peters is leaving Southampton, after Fabrizio Romano applied a ‘Here We Go’ label to his West Ham United transfer.
Kyle Walker-Peters is a Southampton legend. The defender who joined Southampton as a young starlet quickly became one of the most influential players of his generation, and embedded himself to the St Marys culture well
Heck, he even stuck with Southampton throughout some of their worst years, and played in the Championship last season. Next season, though, he will remain in the Premier League, after he and his teammates failed to keep the Saints afloat this season.
Kyle Walker-Peters gets the “Here We Go” to join West Ham
According to Fabrizio Romano, Kyle Walker-Peters is certainly joining West Ham United now. The Italian journalist said that KWP will join the Hammers on a three-year deal, after some quick talks following the breakdown in his Besiktas move.
In his own words, Romano said: “Kyle Walker-Peters has agreed to join West Ham on a three-year deal, here we go! After the deal was off with Besiktas, the fullback has agreed to join West Ham and formal steps will follow soon. Quick talks as @ExWHUEmployee called and deal until June 2028.”
Those infamous three words, “Here We Go” mean that a transfer is as good as happened. Now all that’s pending is the announcement.
It was bound to happen, but this hurts Southampton fans
Yeah, this is a bittersweet moment for Southampton fans. The full-back is one of the best defenders in Southampton’s history. He’s certainly the best of this century.
KWP was always bound to leave Southampton at some point. This was the feeling at the back of Southampton fans’ minds – but it was at the back for a reason.
Nobody really wanted to believe that Walker-Peters was going to leave. Who knows? It may have been different if the Saints pulled off a miracle by securing their place in the Premier League next season.
That didn’t happen, though, despite KWP’s best efforts. Now, he gets his deserved Premier League rebirth, and Southampton fans will cheer him on from afar.
‘I’ve Heard’ – Derby And Norwich In Mix For Star Who Will Decide Next Week
The attacking midfielder was able to give notice on his Wednesday contract after the club failed to pay him on time for two consecutive months.
The Owls continue to be in the grip of financial trouble and are heading towards the new season with a thin squad too, amid further departures being expected.
Windass was a key man at Hillsborough and looks to now have many options in front of him to choose from.
That group includes Norwich City and Derby County, who are both admirers of what the former Rangers man brings to the table.
Landing the 31-year-old on a free transfer would likely be viewed as a coup for whichever club manage to sign him.
Season | Position |
---|---|
2024–25 | 19th (Championship) |
2023–24 | 2nd (League One, promoted) |
2022–23 | 7th (League One) |
2021–22 | 23rd (Championship, relegated) |
2020–21 | 21st (Championship) |
Heading to Genoa would hand Windass an experience outside of English football and that may well appeal to the now former Wednesday man.
Windass struck 13 times for Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship last season, while he also managed to chip in with five assists.
He scored against both Norwich and Derby for Sheffield Wednesday, while he also went on a red hot run of scoring in five successive Championship games in December and early January.
One of his goals was a sensational effort from the half-way line and at the time Windass was clear he wants the win the Puskas Award.
Windass is now just 27 appearances short of hitting the 200-appearances milestone in the Championship and if he stays within the division and stays fit, he has ever chance of doing that in the approaching season.
The attacker has played for four clubs in his career, with Accrington Stanley, Rangers and Wigan Athletic his other previous sides.
