NORMAN, Okla. – The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and Cobalt Golf announced on Thursday that Owen Avrit, Aiden Krafft and Nate Stember of the Oregon men’s golf team have earned the honor of being named All-America Scholars.
To be eligible for Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, participate in 50% of their team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2.
A total of 532 student-athletes were recognized at the Division I level.
This marks the second year in a row that Oregon has had three golfers earn All-America Scholar honors. Both Avrit and Stember earned the award a season ago while this is the first All-America Scholar nod for Krafft.
Stember put together a strong season during his final year in Eugene, competing in all 11 tournaments and putting up a team-best and career-low 71.03 scoring average. The fifth-year senior earned six top-20 and two top-10 finishes en route to an All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention selection. Stember finishes his career at Oregon with the third-most birdies in program history (499) and the seventh-lowest career scoring average (72.03).
Avrit also was able to etch his name in the record books in his final season in Eugene, wrapping up his career with the fifth-best scoring average in program history (71.75). Avrit carded 112 birdies on the season, his third year in a row with at least 100, and his career mark of 423 ranks eighth all time.
Krafft played in 10 tournaments during his sophomore campaign, earning a pair of top-15 finishes. The sophomore averaged 72.13 strokes per round, the fourth lowest mark on the team, and eclipsed the 100 birdie mark for the first time in his career. Krafft also was named to the Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll for the first time in his career this season.
