After nearly a month in the hospital after suffering a traumatic brain inquiry as a result of a 300 miles-per-hour fiery crash, racing legend John Force has been released.

The brain injury occurred during a crash in the first round of Funny Car eliminations at the Virginia Nationals in June.

Force’s car had massive engine failure when crossing the finish line, causing his car to go across the center line and slam into the concrete guard before also hitting a wall.

The 75-year-old Force also suffered a fractured sternum in the incident.

Force has competed at the highest level of racing despite his age and will now work on an outpatient basis to recover, according to a release from John Force Racing.

Force is a 16-time Funny Car champion and showed no signs of slowing down before the fiery crash last month.

Force’s car reached its peak speed of 306.62mph in the race where he crashed, a duel he won over Terry Haddock.

During his legendary career, Force has won a whooping 157 NHRA events.

Force’s last NHRA title came in 2013, when he was 64 years young. His first title came in 1990.

Force had been expected to make a full recovery, but his release is welcomed new from longtime racing fans.

Three of Forces daughters, Ashley, Brittany, and Courtney, have also become successful drag racers.
