News now: Chris Cornell announce the sudden death of top musician…

Audioslave hasn’t produced new music for nearly two decades. The band was on something of a hiatus for years, though a possible reunion was being discussed years ago. Following the death of frontman Chris Cornell, the supergroup made up of well-known musicians is all but certainly finished. Despite this fact, they still manage to debut on a Billboard chart this week that they’ve never reached before.

The beloved outfit’s hit “Like a Stone” appears on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart this week. The single launches at No. 21 on Billboard’s list of the most-streamed tracks that can be classified as hard rock specifically.

“Like a Stone” marks the only new entry on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs list this frame. The other 24 spaces are filled with holdovers, which rise and fall, during what has turned out to be a fairly quiet week.

Audioslave enjoyed a brief period of commercial success in the early and mid-aughts. The band preceded the streaming revolution, so it’s not entirely shocking that they are only just now reaching some charts that focus exclusively on the most popular tunes in every genre on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and others.

The band released “Like a Stone” in 2003, and it helped catapult them to rock stardom. The tune rose to No. 31 on the Hot 100, and it still stands as the group’s highest-ranking hit on the list of the most-consumed songs in the U.S.
