Metallica Members Perform Cover Of Neil Diamond’s ‘Sweet Caroline’
Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo and guitarist Kirk Hammett performed a cover of Neil Diamond‘s 1969 classic “Sweet Caroline” during their concert at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on Sunday (August 4).
Trujillo and Hammett rendered “Sweet Caroline” after Metallica had played six songs, including a version their 72 Seasons track “Screaming Suicide.”
A video shot by a fan shows Metallica frontman James Hetfield telling the audience that Trujillo and Hammett were “gonna entertain you for a moment.” He added, “Have fun.”
Trujillo then announced, “At this point in the show, Kirk and I like to have a jam. So this song is really scary, super heavy, and if you start moshing, try not to injure yourself, ’cause it is such a scary song, I’m already shaking.”
