Former GM Makes Bold Los Angeles Dodgers Prediction For Deadline
The Los Angeles Dodgers have been one of the best teams in baseball this season. They have the second-best record in the National League at 48-31 and are legitimate contenders for the World Series.
After spending an eye-popping amount of money in free agency, spending over $1 billion in total salary, the front office will do whatever it needs to win. What could the team do ahead of the MLB trade deadline?
In the opinion of former general manager Jim Bowden, the team will continue seeking upgrades. Last week, he appeared on MLB Network’s Sirius XM Radio station and shared a bold prediction for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
“So it is tricky, but I know I know the Dodgers and I know Andrew Friedman,” he said. “And everyone just take a deep breath because he’s gonna get a starter, a reliever, and an outfielder by July 30. Book it. Put it in cement.”
With an 8.5-game lead in the National League West, the Los Angeles Dodgers are sitting pretty. Even the injury bug hitting them pretty hard recently hasn’t been able to slow them down, as every button manager Dave Roberts pushes has seemingly been the right one.
Finding some depth certainly would make sense. If an impact player became available in centerfield, they should pull the trigger on that as well.
The Chicago White Sox are one team that the Los Angeles Dodgers could conceivably fill all their needs at once. As Bowden noted, Los Angeles will seek a starter, reliever and outfielder.
In a recent article at The Athletic, it was Bowden who pitched a blockbuster between the Dodgers and White Sox. Los Angeles would receiver Luis Robert Jr., Garrett Crochet and Michael Kopech, hitting every need that he mentioned on MLB Network Radio.
Could that have been foreshadowing for something he has heard through the MLB grapevine? It will be worth keeping an eye on, as he expressed confidence that the Los Angeles Dodgers are going to acquire what they need ahead of the deadline in July.
