LeBron James has already chosen his coach for the Lakers to replace Darvin Ham
The current Lakers boss is expected to depart the team
After being eliminated from the NBA Playoffs, the Los Angeles Lakers are on the verge of making a coaching change, with head coach Darvin Ham reportedly set to depart the team. While the news of Ham‘s impending departure has stirred speculation about potential replacements, one name stands out.
“The latest I’ve heard is the plan is still to move on from Darvin Ham at some point, likely by the end of the week, potentially as early as tomorrow, then the head coaching search will start,” Jovan Buha of The Athletic said on a recent podcast appearance.
The coach LeBron has chosen
Sources suggest that Lakers superstar LeBron James is particularly keen on bringing his former boss, Los Angeles Clippers head coach Ty Lue, across town to lead the Lakers.
“There are a lot of factors there, Ty is under contract but if the Clippers decide they need some changes, he could be one of the changes,” a league executive told Heavy Sports.
With James set to enter free agency this summer, his influence within the organization cannot be understated. The prospect of Lue joining the Lakers has added another layer of intrigue to James‘ future plans and the team’s coaching situation.
