Tragic news: senior pitcher Jake Knapp of Carolina Baseball has stated that an injury will end his career.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – UNC senior pitcher Jake Knapp will miss the entire 2024 season due to a tear in the ulnar collateral ligament of his throwing arm.

Knapp will continue to attend practice and games, and provide leadership, encouragement, and insight.

“We are certainly going to miss Jake’s presence on the mound,” Forbes said. “He worked extremely hard during the offseason and was poised to have a terrific senior season. Jake will still be with us at practice, in the dugout and on road trips. He’s one of our captains and leaders and will be a vital part of our team this year.”

Knapp posted a 5-4 record as junior last season with a 5.04 earned run average (ERA). He tied for the ACC lead in games started (16) and ranked among the conference’s top performers in strikeouts looking and fewest hits allowed.
