Valencia could be set to part ways with a number of their most important players during the upcoming transfer window. Cristhian Mosquera and Pepelu have both been linked with departures, as has Giorgi Mamardashvili, which would likely be the biggest blow of all if he were to go.

Mamardashvili has had an incredible season, and Valencia’s resurgence up the table has been aided by him. Unfortunately for Los Che, his performances have attracted interest, especially from the Premier League.

Newcastle United are one of those very interested in Mamardashvili, and according to Marca, they have positioned themselves at the head of the queue. They are said to be lining up a move for the Georgian international, and barring any FFP concerns, they would have the financial backing to get a deal done.

The report states that Valencia would be asking for €40m in order to sell Mamardashvili this summer. For arguably one of the best goalkeepers in the world, that could be a bargain for Newcastle, if they can pull it off.
