It was a big recruiting weekend for the Auburn football program, which hosted multiple recruits on campus for their official visits, including 4-star safety Eric Winters, who committed to the Tigers during his visit.
While some of the visitors were uncommitted or have pledged to another program for now, others who have committed to the Tigers were on the Plains and a few decided to go ahead and shut down their recruitment.
The first is Auburn football tight end commit Ryan Ghea. From Alpharetta, Georgia, the 4-star prospect chose this weekend for his official visit so he could help recruit the other visitors, including former Auburn tight end commit Hollis Davidson. Following his visit, Ghea announced on his personal Twitter he was permanently locked in with the Tigers.
The next Auburn commit to shut down his recruitment was 3-star cornerback Dante Core from Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Core took his official visit to campus after committing last month and got to spend time with both players and coaches.
“My favorite part of the trip was most definitely hanging out with the players,” Core said, per Auburn Rivals. “I like how it’s like a family. It’s like home away from home.”
The Tigers also got an affirmation from 4-star offensive tackle Carde Smith from Mobile, Alabama. Though Smith plans to visit USC next weekend and will potentially visit Mississippi State and Florida State, he told Auburn Rivals that there is no flipping from Auburn.
“It helps me see that I made the right decision to come to Auburn,” Smith said.”It’s just the love around, you never have to worry about anything. They’ve got your back. I’m locked. There ain’t no switching.”
The Auburn football class of 2025 currently holds 15 commits and is ranked #6 nationally.
