David Moyes’s West Ham United have been linked with Inter Milan playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu.

According to Spazio Inter, West Ham United are interested in signing Hakan Calhanoglu from Inter Milan in the summer transfer window.

The report in the Italian news outlet has claimed that West Ham are looking at Calhanoglu as a potential replacement for Lucas Paqueta and could make a bid for him.

If Brazil international attacking midfielder Paqueta leaves this summer, then the Hammers will target the £154,000-a-week (SalarySport) Calhanoglu.

Although Inter, who reached the final of the UEFA Champions League last season, do not want to sell Calhanoglu, they could cash in on the 29-year-old midfielder if West Ham offered €50 million (£43 million).

Signing Hakan Calhanoglu would be a coup for West Ham United

In our opinion, West Ham United would be a better team with Hakan Calhanoglu in it.

We believe that if the Hammers are able to sign Calhanoglu in the summer transfer window, then it would be a coup.

The Turkey international is one of the best midfielders in the world and is a free-kick specialist.

The former Bayer Leverkusen star is at the top of his game at the moment at the age of 29.

Calhanoglu was superb during his time at AC Milan and helped city rivals Inter reach the final of the UEFA Champions League last season.

Signing a player who has turned out for two of the biggest and most historic clubs in the world in his prime would be quite something for West Ham, who are unlikely to even challenge for a top-six spot in the Premier League table next season.

Calhanoglu made 28 starts and five substitute appearances in Serie A for Inter last season.

The midfielder scored three goals and gave six assists in those games.

The Turkish star also made nine starts and three substitute appearances in the UEFA Champions League last season.

Calhanoglu scored one goal and gave two assists in those matches.
