Everton complete signing of Jack Harrison on a season-long loan from Leeds after Aston Villa had considered hijacking the move for the midfielder

Leeds star Jack Harrison has completed a season-long loan deal to join Premier League side Everton.

The 26-year-old had emerged as a potential late target for Aston Villa – after Emiliano Buendia sustained knee ligament damage in training last week, which will mean a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

However, he has completed a move to the Toffees, though there is no option to buy included in the deal.

Harrison nearly joined Leicester last January and was admired by a number of Premier League clubs following Leeds’ relegation last season.

He missed Leeds’ 1-0 defeat at Birmingham on Saturday due to injury but the problem is not thought to be long-term.

The 26-year-old will be a handy addition for the Toffees after scoring 21 goals in the past three seasons.

He also picked up 10 assists across competitions last season despite playing in a struggling Leeds side

Villa also fear Tyrone Mings has suffered serious damage to his knee with the defender facing a lengthy absence that adds to the club’s mounting injury crisis.

The England centre back was carried off on a stretcher after 31 minutes and became the fourth key first-team player out of action, with Alex Moreno, Jacob Ramsey and Buendia also on the sidelines.
