TEAMtalk reports that Sheffield United are considering bringing in veteran Ghanaian player Andre Ayew on a free transfer.
The Blades have returned to the top flight of English football after being promoted last season, but they have finding the road tough. Indeed, after four games, Paul Heckingbottom’s side has only one point to their name, which they earned in a 2-2 draw against Everton last time out.
Despite their efforts, the Blades lack the essential quality and know-how to compete in the Premier League.
Heckingbottom is now considering bringing 114-cap Ghana forward Ayew to Bramall Lane to provide some craft and expertise.
After departing Nottingham Forest at the end of last season, the 33-year-old is now a free agent. After leaving Qatari side Al Sadd, the former West Ham, Swansea, and Marseille attacker joined the City Ground on a short-term agreement.
Despite making 13 appearances in the second half of the season, Steve Cooper chose not to renew his contract, enabling the 152-goal forward to reach the open market.
Ayew is hoping to get back into the game at the next possible opportunity after failing to obtain a trade thus far. He is not a player because of his free agency status.
However, we understand that the Blades are considering providing the veteran striker a short-term contract to see whether he can help them stay in the Premier League.
