West Ham United are interested in signing Royal Antwerp sensation Arthur Vermeeren.
According to Mundo Deportivo, West Ham are interested in signing Belgian wonder Arthur Vermeeren from Royal Antwerp, although they will face competition from Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, and AS Monaco.

On 15 September, the Spanish news organization revealed on their website that the Hammers had scouts observing Vermeeren during Antwerp’s match against Gent on 7 January and have been studying his improvement.

According to reports, Barcelona has been interested in bringing the 18-year-old to the Nou Camp since last season, when he helped his club win the league and cup double.

The fact that Vermeeren is being pursued by some of Europe’s top clubs, including one of the world’s largest, Barcelona, and a club with such a long history of player development, Dortmund, is a very good indicator and demonstrates how huge of a coup this would be if West Ham can pull it off.

Vermeeren, who is only 18 years old, has already made 48 senior appearances for Antwerp, scoring two goals and providing three assists. His breakthrough season was 20 Juliper Pro League appearances in 2022/23, when Antwerp won the Belgian League and Cup double.

This agreement would be in line with West Ham’s new policy of investing in young talent for the future rather than spending much on players who will only be at the club for two or three years before leaving or becoming less effective.

Tim Steidten was hired as the new technical director over the summer, with his expertise of European leagues a crucial factor in his selection, and this agreement appears to be one he would be interested in.

In other West Ham news, Declan Rice’s recent nomination has opened the way for West Ham kids.
