Spurs may be forced to let go of a player they admire after some transfer talk this week, with manager Ange postecoglou yet to suffer a top-flight defeat in his first season in charge.

After the calamity of Antonio Conte’s last campaign, Spurs’ new manager has brought back an exciting, attacking style of football.

Spurs have won four of their last five games in all competitions, scoring 13 goals and being one of the division’s top three attacking sides.

Some of the Spurs players who didn’t get much game time under Conte – such as Yves Bouhoussema and Papou Matar Soro – are flourishing in the new-look Spurs team.

Tottenham’s attacking midfielders, Lo Celso (who Conte did not favour) and Bryan Gil (who also did not favour Conte), could soon return to the fold.

Since mid-August, Spurs have won 4-0 and 5-0 respectively against Bournemouth (twice), Man United (twice), Burnley (twice), and Sheffield United (twice).

The latter result was a real test of Spurs’ character. The Blades took a first-half lead, but Spurs fought back with two late goals by Richarlison (twice) and Dejan Kolusevski (twice) to win 2-1.

So, who could go?

It’s no secret that Postecoglou is finding a winning way at N17, and his best Spurs team is shaping up, meaning certain players could be on the chopping block before January.

Postecoglou has already seen former star striker Harry Kane leave the club in the summer, and more are likely to follow soon.

Lo Celso, who was linked with a move in the summer, is set to leave the club this winter.

Postecoglou likes Lo Celso very much, as he recently revealed to the press:

I’m very pleased with Gio. He’s been really well in training and, as you can see, he’s a good player. I think the style of football we’re playing suits him very well. I’ve had a lot of fun working with him. I think he’s enjoying it.

Despite this, a Spanish report claims Lo Celso “has made it clear” that he wants to leave Tottenham during the winter transfer window. The report goes on to state that the player and his representatives are already in the process of arranging a transfer.

According to the report, Lo Celso is keen to return to Spain and has one particular destination in mind: Real Betis, where he believes there will be more chances to make an impact.

If the report is correct, Lo Celso could still play a role for Tottenham and we think he could be in a rush to make a decision.

Geronimo rulli, who played with Lo Celso at Villarreal during his 2022 loan spell, described him as “a plus” for the club.

“He’s a plus for us as a team,” Rulli said. “He makes us better and I’m not saying he’s a world-class player. I know him very well, both as a player and as a person, and I hope he does well.”
