Transfer windows have closed across Europe, and Jota could be looking to end his time with the club amid speculation linking him to a potential Tottenham Hotspur move.

Just months after departing Celtic on a free transfer to Saudi Arabia, Jota is thought to be considering a way out of the club, according to a report from ESPN FC’s Rudy Galetti.

According to Galetti, Jota is “considering whether to try to persuade Nuno to change his mind or terminate his contract”.

It has been reported that Jota will not be included in the club’s squad for the upcoming winter transfer window, and Galetti says Jota is “looking for a way out”.

It is an incredible turn of events, and Jota appears to be in a quandary.

After signing Jota from Celtic for £25million last summer, the move quickly turned sour, with Jota playing just one game for the club.

According to 90Min, Spurs were made aware of Jota’s availability at the end of August, allowing him to move on loan to North London and consider a late switch. The idea was that Jota would join up with his old Celtic boss, AngePostecoglou, at Tottenham.

Postecoglou was a huge admirer of Jota during their time together at Celtic, describing him as ‘a special player’.

Spurs have signed a new right-winger in Brennan Johnson, but it has just been reported that Perisic is expected to miss the remainder of the season with an injury. This could open up a spot for Jota, who will no doubt be keeping a close eye on the situation.
