According to reports, Newcastle have joined the race for the signature of the highly-rated Brazilian midfielder from Corinthians.

At the age of 17, Moscardo is regarded as one of the most talented youngsters in South America.

The Magpies are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of next season, and have already recruited the likes of 18-year-olds Garang kuol, Yankuba minteh (also 18) and Lewis hall (also 18), all of whom are expected to become stars of the future.

The Magpies could now compete with Chelsea for Moscardo’s signature in January. According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea are ‘one step closer’ to signing the defensive midfielder, who has already been offered €21m – €18m – by Chelsea – but Corinthians are demanding a fee of €30m – €25.6m – €30m.

The links between Chelsea and Moscardo have waned in recent days, allowing Newcastle to make a move in January.

It is understood that Manchester United are also interested in the Brazilian.

It has been reported that Newcastle have already made an approach for the talented young defensive midfielder. However, it is unclear whether they are ready to make a bid.

It has also been reported that Barcelona have joined Chelsea in their pursuit of Moscardo, with Deco, the club’s sporting director, viewing him as a Brazilian ‘jewel’ who could eventually become their No6.

According to the report, Chelsea were initially “feared” by Corinthian’s €30m price-tag, which is why they are “backtracking” on the auction.

According to IGR Esporte, Moscardo is also wanted by Everton and Nottingham Forest, so it’s no secret that there’s a lot of interest in the Brazilian under-23 international.

That’s why we’ll be keeping an eye on whether or not Newcastle make a concrete offer for the Corinthians ace. If they do, Moscardo will have plenty of other suitors vying for his signature.
