EDDIE HOWE has confessed that Newcastle United are in a dilemma before of Wednesday’s Champions League match against Paris St Germain.

For the first time in more than 20 years, the Magpies will host a Champions League game at St James’ Park, but they will be without a slew of senior players as they take on the French champions.

Sven Botman is definitely out, and he’ll also miss next weekend’s Premier League game against West Ham due to the knee injury that kept him out of today’s 2-0 win over Burnley.

Callum Wilson is anticipated to miss the Paris St Germain game after missing today’s game against the Clarets due to a hamstring injury. However, he may play at the London Stadium next Sunday.

Joelinton is also a huge injury concern after limping off with a hamstring issue after only five minutes as a second-half substitute this afternoon.

“Callum has a minor hamstring problem,” Howe explained. We hope he returns soon. We expect to see him before the international break, but nothing is guaranteed.

“Sven is out with a knee injury, and I doubt we’ll see him before the international break.” Hopefully, we’ll see him soon after that.

“It appears to be a hamstring with Joelinton.” If he loses him (Joelinton), it would be a major setback, but we’ll have to wait and see.”

To make matters worse for Newcastle’s trip to West Ham next weekend, Anthony Gordon will be suspended after receiving his fifth card of the season for kicking the ball away after giving a free-kick this afternoon.

“It’s (the suspension) an absolute,” Howe added.
