Rumour has it that the club even wanted to sign Jean-Ricoster Bellegarde in January. Bellegarde is a potential crowd favourite at the club and made his first-team debut against Liverpool on Saturday.

Wolves lost 3-1 after going 1-0 up thanks to a goal from Heung Hee-chan.

Despite the loss, many of the Wolves’ key players performed well, including Bellegarde, who made his first start of the season.

Playing with real assurance, Bellegarde took full advantage of every opportunity presented to him and kept the ball moving forward.

His link-up play with Pedro Neto was particularly impressive, and fans look forward to seeing more of him in the future.

Bellegarde, who joined the club in the summer for just over £13m, could have joined sooner had he not suffered an injury.

According to The Athletic, Wanderers did indeed entertain a January bid for Bellegarde, but the player’s injury prevented the deal from happening.

Wolves had been interested in Bellegarde, who was on the radar of Strasbourg, but he picked up an ankle ligament in a January 14 Ligue 1 match against Lyon.

According to reports, Wolves had made an initial bid for the player, but talks broke down after Bellegarde’s injury.

He spent the next couple of months out of action, missing eight Ligue 1 games.

At the end of the day, Bellegarde did make it to the first team, and he looks like a player.

That’s an interesting statement to make about Wolves’ latest acquisition.

In the end, though, it didn’t really matter much that they didn’t sign him in January, because the club had already secured the signings of Mario Lemina (for €30m) and Jao Gomes (for €20m), and had saved themselves from relegation.

However, on transfer deadline day, Wolves kept faith in Bellegarde and signed him on a free transfer.

Bellegarde’s first-half performance against Liverpool was eye-catching and he appears to be a running machine and another excellent ball-winner.
