Everton is one of four Premier League clubs said to be interested in signing a “special” attacker in the near future, with other clubs also interested.
Is it necessary for Everton to sign another attacker?
The Blues were in desperate need of attacking firepower during the summer transfer window, having struggled for goals throughout previous season, which contributed to their relegation battle.
Sean Dyche was able to rectify this issue by bringing in some key summer recruits, notably Beto from Udinese in a big-money deal, as well as Arnaut Danjuma and Jack Harrison on loan from Villarreal and Leeds United, respectively.
However, it has failed to make the necessary difference in the Premier League, with Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at home to Luton Town a dismal outcome on a day when many would have expected a home win. While Everton’s 3-1 victory over Brentford last weekend showed that they had regained their footing, this result certainly returns them to square one.
In reality, the Blues appear to be in need of greater attacking quality heading ahead in order to avoid a third relegation.
Do Everton want to bring in another striker?
According to a Spanish source, Everton are one of four clubs interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain striker Hugo Ekitike, who is currently fighting for playing time at the Ligue 1 giants, having played only eight minutes this season.
The 21-year-old is also coveted by AC Milan, West Ham, and Wolves, so the Blues will have stiff competition. His current PSG contract does not expire until the summer of 2027, therefore he may not be cheap.
Ekitike is plainly unhappy at his present club, but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be a wonderful addition to any team.
“He has a very special quality about him.” He’s still young, but he has the potential to be a very good player. He’s a young man with a lot of potential but also a lot of work to do in training.”
Ekitike may have been overshadowed at PSG in recent years by playing alongside Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and Neymar, but he has still contributed four goals and four assists to the cause. A total of 13 goals and eight assists in 52 Ligue 1 matches is also a good return for a young player, and he might provide Everton with some much-needed offensive quality.
A January departure from PSG would undoubtedly appeal to the player.
