Leicester City confirm a major injury to Manchester City defender Callum Doyle.
Callum Doyle, a Manchester City teenager on loan at Leicester, might be out for up to four months with an injury.

Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca has stated that Manchester City loanee Callum Doyle will be out for up to four months due to injury.

The 19-year-old was substituted during last weekend’s 1-0 win against Bristol City at the King Power Stadium, putting him out of the midweek Carabao Cup defeat to Liverpool at Anfield. Despite taking an early lead, the Championship table-toppers were defeated 3-1.

Doyle has been a vital fixture for the Midlands outfit this season, so his long-term absence has deprived Maresca of a significant player. Despite his background as a centre-back, he had made the left-back position his own at the King Power Stadium.

And, with Leicester lacking left-footed options at full-back, his departure is a big setback for the Championship club. Though the Foxes have not acknowledged the nature of his injury, Maresca has stated that he could be sidelined for up to 16 weeks.

“It’ll take between 12 and 16 weeks,” Maresca said on Friday. “He is the only left-footed player.”

Because he is the only one, it is unlucky. We have a lot of right-footed guys, but he’s the only one in that position.

Because it is what it is, we will endeavor to find a solution. JJ [James Justin] performed admirably against Liverpool and Bristol City.”

Doyle, who will remain at Leicester during his recuperation period, joined the King Power Stadium club in the summer with the goal of becoming the club’s first promotion from the Championship. Last season, he helped Coventry City reach the Championship play-off final, only to lose on penalties to Luton Town at Wembley Stadium.
