Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro has shocked some members of Ange Postecoglou’s coaching staff with his grumpy attitude during training this season.
That’s according to a report from football.london, which details how hard Porro has worked under his new team.
The report states that few around the club expected Porro to start in the same team as Destiny Udogie this season.
Emerson Royal is considered a better balance alongside Udogie thanks to the 20-year-old’s attacking style of play.
However, Postecoglou was determined to get Porro into his Spurs squad and it seems the Spaniard has responded well. The Tottenham coaching staff was shocked by Porro’s determination to make more efforts to improve his defense.
Along with Yves Bissouma, who was also praised for his attitude under Ange, Porro is the most improved player in this Spurs team.
And Postecoglou has clearly inspired a number of disillusioned players to get back to their best.
Spurs fans might even think Cristian Romero could fall into this category, a defender who has had a renewed focus this season.
Porro worked as hard as anyone with Postecoglou’s Tottenham team
Guglielmo Vicario is also another player who has made great progress with coach Tottenham this season. Rob Burch was heard applauding Vicario in an interview after Liverpool’s win, and that’s probably because he’s so proud of all the progress he’s made.
The 26-year-old has an extremely difficult task following Hugo Lloris at Tottenham, even if the French legend has lost his way a bit.
But Vicario put all doubts to rest with his ever-improving performances.
And like Porro, Vicario has clearly approached this season with a willingness to learn from Postecoglou and his Tottenham side.
There is clearly a very positive foundation being laid at Spurs and the challenge now is to maintain these levels over the long term.
