Minnesota Vikings acquire Arizona quarterback Dobbs, Josh
The transaction comes just days after quarterback Kirk Cousins sustained a season-ending Achilles tendon damage that would necessitate surgery.
EAGAN, Minnesota — The Minnesota Vikings have agreed to terms with Arizona Cardinals quarterback Josh Dobbs.
The Vikings traded Arizona a 2024 sixth-round pick in exchange for the journeyman quarterback and a 2024 seventh-round pick.
After a 1-7 start, the Cardinals benched Dobbs and will start Clayton Tune.
The transaction, which is likely only a temporary fix, comes just days after quarterback Kirk Cousins suffered a season-ending Achilles’ tendon damage that will necessitate surgery.
Despite the injury in the fourth quarter, the Vikings defeated the Green Bay Packers 24-10 on Sunday.
The Vikings are 4-4 in the NFC North, trailing the 6-2 Detroit Lions. This Sunday, the Vikings travel to Atlanta to face the Falcons, who are also 4-4.
It’s unclear whether Dobbs will be ready in time to face the Falcons. Jaren Hall, the Vikings’ rookie quarterback, took over when Kirk Cousins was injured against the Packers.
