Miles McBride and the New York Knicks have agreed to a three-year, $13 million contract deal.

The New York Knicks and third-year guard Miles McBride have agreed to a three-year contract extension worth $13 million, according to Priority Sports representatives Mark Bartelstein and Andy Shiffman on Saturday. This extension, which is completely assured, will begin next season.

While McBride has always been a deep-bench player for the Knicks since joining the NBA as a second-round draft pick prior of the 2022 season, he has been a consistent component of Tom Thibodeau’s rotation even on lower-volume minutes.

McBride averaged 9.3 MPG in 40 games as a rookie, then rose up the depth chart to participate in 64 games and average 11.9 MPG last season. However, the packed Knicks backcourt has limited the reserve man to fewer than 5 MPG in 19 games this season, including Saturday’s game at Indiana.

Following the earlier reported trade with the Toronto Raptors, which weakened the Knicks roster, McBride logged a season-high 18 minutes in the defeat against the Pacers, adding five points and an assist while shooting 2-for-3 from the field. The artist known as Deuce has averaged 2.8 points per game in his two-plus seasons with the Knicks.

Although the Knicks recruited another guard in former Raptor Malachi Flynn, it’s reasonable to expect Thibs to favor McBride going forward and boost his role in the rotation as one of the primary relievers for Jalen Brunson at the point, especially given Deuce’s defensive abilities.

In a related move announced earlier on Saturday following the trade for OG Anunoby, Precious Achiuwa, and Flynn, the Knicks waived forward DaQuan Jeffries to make room for the three incoming Raptors, as they only sent two players (RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley the other way).
