Report: David Moyes’s close friend, a “special” manager, is being considered by West Ham.

It was West Ham’s third straight Premier League loss on Saturday afternoon as they were defeated 2-0 at Nottingham Forest.

The Hammers are yet to achieve a victory in 2024 and have now lost six league games.

Moyes’s contract expires this summer, so the timing couldn’t be worse for him as he fights for his job after his recent string of poor performance.

Less than a year after winning the Europa Conference League, many West Ham supporters want Moyes gone, and some intriguing candidates are desired inside the London Stadium.

According to the Daily Mail, West Ham has begun compiling a list of possible Moyes replacements.

Julen Lopetegui is reportedly one of the three big names that West Ham is keeping an eye on.

Since leaving Wolverhampton Wanderers in August, shortly before the Premier League season began, the Spaniard has not been in management.

Although Lopetegui has been connected to numerous positions, he has been waiting for the ideal one, ideally in the Premier League.

West Ham is able to provide that return, and Lopetegui will be highly desirable given his record of winning the Europa League with Sevilla.

It’s hardly shocking to learn that Lopetegui is sought because he did a remarkable job of bringing Wolves from the bottom of the table to Premier League survival.

Luis Lopetegui, dubbed a “special” coach by his old Porto midfield partner Ruben Neves, has admitted to being close friends with Moyes in the past, but the Scot may end up taking Moyes’ place in East London.

Graham Potter, who left Chelsea in April of last year and hasn’t returned to management, is another candidate that West Ham is considering.

Given his stellar performance at Brighton & Hove Albion, Potter seems like the ideal manager for many West Ham supporters.

Although Potter’s move to Chelsea didn’t work out, the disarray may have convinced clubs that he can find a new home for success.

Steve Cooper, who was fired as Nottingham Forest’s manager in December, is the last name to be named.

In his first season as manager, Cooper led Forest to victory, and the previous season, he ensured Forest’s Premier League survival.

Although the Welshman received recognition for his efforts at the City Ground, Forest’s performance this season was just not up to par, and Nuno Espirito Santo, his replacement, has made the team a little more reliable.

We would choose Lopetegui and Potter over Cooper for the West Ham position, but some managers might be hesitant to make a move so close to the conclusion of the season. The Hammers will soon need to decide whether to make a change now or wait until the summer.
