Leicester City linked with signing playmaker who Pep Guardiola says has ‘good potential’

Leicester City’s transfer plans appear to be underway behind the scenes.

Whilst Enzo Maresca‘s side fight for Championship promotion, it seems Leicester chiefs are plotting their summer signings ahead of the transfer window reopening

The Foxes looked well-placed to book an instant return to the Premier League, as they sit at the summit of the table, two points clear of second-placed Ipswich and four above Leeds United, who occupy third.

Two wins from their remaining three games will be enough to mathematically secure a top-two finish and they could seal it on Tuesday if Leeds suffer defeat to Middlesbrough this evening.

It seems Leicester already have a transfer target in mind if they are to gain promotion.

Leicester City linked with signing James McAtee

James McAtee is a player Maresca tried to sign last summer and he even travelled to Seagrave just before the transfer deadline, according to LeicestershireLive.

McAtee, who is contracted to Manchester City, ultimately returned to Sheffield United on loan, having enjoyed a successful season there during the 2022/23 promotion campaign.

Though, it seems he may become available again in the summer, as The Blades look set to suffer relegation back to the second tier.

Leicester have reignited their interest in McAtee, according to Alan Nixon, and should they go up, they’ll have a good chance of finally securing his signature.
