In the wake of the Gold Coast Titans’ “embarrassing” NRL start, David Fifita made a shocking exit claim.

The enforcer for the Titans has until round ten to let them know if he plans to stay with the team after this season.
David Fifita is expected to abruptly leave the Titans as NRL rivals consider a bid for the highly valued prop. The Bulldogs and Dragons have humiliatingly defeated Gold Coast in their opening games of the season, and their misery has been made worse by captain Tino Fa’asuamaleaui’s season-ending knee injury.

They now have to deal with the serious possibility that Fifita may be leaving. This exacerbates the situation. Due to a get-out clause in his current contract, the 24-year-old can effectively become a free agent, and it’s understood that the Gold Coast is beginning to worry that Fifita will do just that.

In the event that Justin Holbrook was fired, the star prop could become a free agent, according to the terms of his previous Titans contract. Nevertheless, Holbrook inked a new three-year contract worth an estimated $1 million per season after Des Hasler replaced him in his position.

However, Fifita had player options for 2025 and 2026 under that deal, which means he could exercise his right to do so before round 10 and become a free agent. If the 24-year-old decides to go undrafted, opposing teams will undoubtedly pay close attention to him because he is among the most dangerous forwards in the NRL and has a unique talent for spotting the try line.

The Titans are in limbo while they wait to see if Dave Riccio will exercise the clause, according to NRL 360’s Dave Riccio. “My primary worry is that David Fifita’s contract contains a Round 10 trigger clause, which he can activate to quit the team,” Riccio stated.

Fifita could, however, exercise his right to do so prior to round 10 and become a free agent because he was granted player options for 2025 and 2026 under that agreement. Opposing teams will surely keep a close eye on the 24-year-old if he chooses not to be drafted because he is one of the NRL’s most dangerous forwards and possesses a special ability to identify the try line.

According to NRL 360’s Dave Riccio, the Titans are in limbo as they wait to see if he exercises the clause. “The main concern I have is that David Fifita has a Round 10 trigger clause in his contract that he can use to leave the team,” Riccio said.
