The Whites have been keeping themselves somehow in the hunt for automatic promotion despite a woeful dip in form since the March international break.
Two wins since mid-March have ensured Leeds cannot win the title, but Ipswich Town’s coinciding downturn means Daniel Farke’s side are somehow in the top two despite being thumped 4-0 on Friday.
Now knowing that Ipswich have dropped points away at Hull City, Leeds could have been three points clear heading into the final week of the season, had they built on the 4-3 win at Middlesbrough.
However, Leeds were visibly second best for large parts of the game on Friday night against Marti Cifuentes’ side, 2-0 down at half-time and doing virtually nothing to respond in either half.
Two more goals for the home side made it 4-0 to confirm Leicester’s promotion, with questions seriously being asked of Farke’s tactical setup – or lack thereof – as well as the application from a lacklustre bunch of players.
