Jonathan Lekkerimaki is assigned by the Canucks to Abbotsford
Sweden recently cut their first-round pick for the 2022 World Championship team.
Winger Jonathan Lekkerimaki has been assigned by the Vancouver Canucks to the Abbotsford Canucks, the team announced on Wednesday.

Lekkerimaki is a game-time decision for Abbotsford tonight. He was cut by Sweden prior to their opening World Championship matchup against the U.S. on Friday.

Lekkerimaki, who was selected by the Canucks in the first round of the 2022 draft, played most of the season on loan at Orebro HK (SHL), where he finished with 19 goals and 12 assists in 46 games. In three postseason games, he also contributed an assist.

Following the conclusion of his Swedish season, Lekkerimaki traveled to North America, where he played six games with Abbotsford, scoring one goal and providing an assist.

Lekkerimaki is an extremely skilled offensive player who is most lethal when he has the puck on his stick. If he has the time and room to do so, he can beat goalies from practically anywhere on the ice.

Lekkerimaki would be a welcome addition to Abbotsford if he plays, as they attempt to rally from a 2-0 series deficit against the Ontario Reign.
