Leicester: £165k-a-week duo now likely to leave

King Power

Leicester City duo Youri Tielemans and Caglar Soyuncu are both ‘looking likely’ to leave the King Power on free transfers at the end of the season, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Both players are out of contract at the end of the season and have yet to reach an agreement with the Foxes on a new deal.

Recently, journalist Ben Jacobs revealed in his column with CaughtOffside that Arsenal are interested in landing Tielemans for nothing in the summer.

Furthermore, the report states that both Manchester United and Newcastle United are keen on the Belgium international, creating a tug-of-war for his services.

On the other hand, Football Espana claims that Leicester City defender Soyuncu is a ‘given’ to complete a move to Atletico Madrid at the end of this campaign, with the La Liga giants said to be trying to source a defensive partner for his prospective arrival.

Tielemans earns around £120,000 at the Foxes on his current Leicester deal, while Soyuncu pockets around £45,000, as per Salary Sport

According to Jones, Tielemans and Soyuncu will leave Leicester City on free transfers this summer, with the process considered a formality at this point.

“Nobody else is going to sign him now [Soyuncu to Atletico Madrid], so I’ll be interested in whether they still feel that is a good fit,” Jones told GMS. They’ve always liked him, but it now appears that Soyuncu and Tielemans will go for free.”

Undoubtedly, Leicester City would miss both players considerably if they were to move on. However, what would really sting for the Foxes would be the fact they wouldn’t receive a penny for the pair.

Tielemans, in particular, is someone who has attracted interest from many elite clubs in the last few years and is valued at (€40 million) £35.3 million by Transfer market.

By the same token, Soyuncu is rated at around €22 million (£19.4 million) by the same organization. From a financial standpoint, Leicester City have failed the output they could’ve made on two talented first-team assets.

If they are to cut ties with the club, both Tielemans and Soyuncu will have plenty of suitors looking for a bargain buy this summer.
