A classic Leicester City attacking performance blew Tottenham away on Saturday afternoon

Tottenham Hotspur assistant manager Cristian Stellini admitted his team’s performance on Saturday was “not good enough” and urged for more consistency after being thrashed 4-1 by Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

Spurs had taken the lead through Rodrigo Bentancur, but were stunned when Nampalys Mendy, James Maddison, and Kelechi Iheanacho all scored before the break, leaving the north London club with a mountain to climb.

Foxes winger Harvey Barnes secured the points with a late second-half strike, having previously had a goal ruled out by VAR, which added to Antonio Conte’s side’s demise.

The Italian’s side came into the contest fresh from an excellent display last weekend which saw them see off title chasing Manchester City 1-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with Stellini leading preparations as Conte recovered from gall bladder surgery.

There was a return to the dugout for the Tottenham head coach but his assistant took press duties, saying to Match of the Day: “We are disappointed. We have to apologise because our performance was not good enough in the way we have to be consistent after a game like the last game. A great win. We have to be consistent in our performance and in the approach to the game. It was not bad, but we struggled too much and we are disappointed for that.”

The Foxes’ victory was their second in a row in which they came from behind to score four goals, having won 4-2 at Midlands rivals Aston Villa last weekend.
