Bournemouth have an option to buy Leeds United loanee Luis Sinisterra for £18.9 million.

According to Pipe Sierra, Luis Sinisterra has a £18.9 million buy-option in the move that brought him from Leeds to Bournemouth on deadline day.

The Colombian journalist says on his personal Twitter account (16 September) that Sinisterra had his first training session with the Cherries since his move.

He also disclosed that Bournemouth can make his loan move permanent for €22 million (£18.9 million) next summer if he impresses.

“First training session for new player Luis Sinisterra (24) as a new player for Bournemouth,” he wrote.

“Today, the Colombian winger paid a visit to the Vitality Stadium.” He is on loan from Leeds until June 2024, with a purchase option of €22 million (£18.9 million).”

It would be an odd agreement for Leeds United to agree to loan out one of their top players on deadline day with the opportunity to buy him back for less than they paid for him.

Leeds paid roughly £21 million to get the Colombian from Feyenoord, and he was one of the better performers in the Premier League when we were relegated, but injuries plagued him.

He started this season well as well, scoring against Ipswich in a 4-3 win, but he appeared to burn bridges with the club when he refused to play because he wanted to leave, though that was thought to be resolved when he was welcomed back into the fold.

Leeds were obviously concerned about the legal consequences of keeping him and agreed to a loan exit, but if these terms are correct, the buy option would undoubtedly benefit Bournemouth more than Leeds.

We’ll have to wait and see whether it comes to light, but this worsens an already poor situation for the Whites.

In other Leeds news, a 49ers investor predicted that one of the Whites’ stars would be the “first out the door” this summer.
