Everton beat Aston Villa 4-0 at Villa Park on Saturday to book a place in the fourth round.

After being booed by his own supporters in last month’s 4-0 thumping at the hands of Villa, the Englishman calmly converted his second goal of the season after netting on Saturday at Brentford.

The result was a surprise considering Everton’s performance at Villa Park last month, when they were completely outplayed and let down by Villa’s attack.

However, Saturday’s win over the Bees marks Everton’s first in the league this season and the Toffees showed their new-found self-assurance by seeing off an ill-disciplined Villa team to progress to the fourth round.

The injury-plagued striker has found it hard to find consistency in his injury-interrupted career, but his 11th league goal in nine starts was enough to send Sean Dyche’s team into the fourth round as Villa, who were booed at the end of the first half, were left to rue their poor attitude. Both managers made five changes, and while Everton were resolute and resolute, Villa looked as though they wanted to be anywhere other than here.

The visitors’ opener was a sight to behold. Leon Dendoncker fumbled a backpass and reserve keeper Robin Olsen smashed his clearance straight at the feet of Douglas Luiz, who was unable to control the ball, and when it went into the path of Amadou Ojonese, the striker scored.

Villa’s poor attitude continued, with James Garner’s first-half goal followed by Kamara’s late effort not doing much to help. Despite Emery’s claims to be a cup specialist, Villa have now lost all three domestic ties under him.
