Everton injury update: ‘Few bumps’ as new concern develops ahead of Luton Town encounter

Sean Dyche offers an injury update for Everton.

Vitalii Mykolenko is questionable for Everton’s Premier League meeting with Luton Town on Saturday.

The left-back was injured in last night’s 2-1 Carabao Cup triumph over Aston Villa. Mykolenko suffered an injury during the preseason but has impressed after playing in the last three games.

However, the Ukraine international’s availability against the Hatters at Goodison Park will be determined. During his pre-match press conference, Dyche was asked about the health of his squad ahead of the match, and he answered, “Nothing too major.” Myko escaped, and we must exercise caution. We’ll see how he feels the next day. There were a few bumps and bruises, but nothing serious.”

Everton will be without Seamus Coleman (knee), Dele (hip), and Andre Gomes (calf). The Toffees are aiming for three consecutive victories in all competitions, including their first at Goodison Park this season.

Ben Dinnery has put Jack Harrison’s chances of making his first-team debut at 25% ahead of Wednesday’s EFL Cup clash with Aston Villa, according to the injury expert’s latest Premier Injuries site.

Harrison joined on a one-month loan from Leeds on August 14, but has yet to make his Toffees debut after sustaining a hip injury.

Harrison returned to first-team training last week and took his recovery to the next level with a 45-minute appearance for the club’s U21s against Norwich City in the Premier League 2 on Friday (22 September).

Other absentees for the Toffees include Dele Alli (with a knee injury), Seamus Coleman (with a back injury) as well as Andre Gomes (a knee injury).

The Toffees are scheduled to host Luton Town on Saturday (30 September) in the Premier League.

Undoubtedly, Sean Dyche will be keen to get Harrison back on the pitch as quickly as possible, however, the last thing they want is for him to make things worse.

Harrison’s recent form has been encouraging, and he appeared to be fully recovered from the injury he sustained in the U21 game.

There is now a chance for Harrison to be included in the starting line-up against Aston Villa, and Luton, with the expectation being that he will make his debut from the bench.

If not, they will host Bournemouth at the club’s Selhurst Park on 7 October before the break for the second international period.

The Toffees looked like they had finally found their mojo in attack in a 3-1 win over Brentford over the weekend, with Harrison returning from injury to give manager Sean Dyche a much-needed boost.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Everton have been given a £45m cash injection to help pay for the construction of their new stadium.
