Unai Emery reveals Aston Villa’s latest injury concerns after defeat to Everton

Unai Emery has revealed Aston Villa have picked up two fresh injury concerns after their Carabao Cup defeat to Everton.

Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey has been ruled out of the 2-1 Carabao Cup defeat to Everton due to a new injury, as confirmed by manager Unai Emery.

Villa boss Emery made five changes to the starting line-up for Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup tie, with John McGinn brought into the left-back spot to take over from Lucas Digne.

One man they really could’ve done with was Jacob Ramsey for his energy and agility on the half-turn, but he wasn’t present in the matchday squad at all.

“It’s not a serious injury, it’s just a minor one,” Emery said in the post-game press conference. “I hope he can get back as soon as possible.”

“I’m not sure if he’ll be available on Saturday against Brighton and Hove Albion, but it’s not a bad injury for him right now,” added Emery.

Ramsey is not the only player to require treatment this week, as Leon Bailey limped off against Everton with a thigh injury.

Emery did not provide an update on Bailey’s injury, but said the striker was taken off in the 30th minute. “It was an injury,” the Spaniard said. “It changed the flow of the game.”

Emiliano Buendia is still out with a long-term knee injury, while Tyrone Mings and Alex Moreno are on the verge of returning from a hamstring injury.
