Shaun Higgins, a midfielder with the Western Bulldogs, plans to participate in the first day of preseason training with the main squad next month.

Shaun Higgins, a midfielder/forward for the Western Bulldogs, plans to return to full squad training on the opening day of preseason next month.

The club’s medical and fitness experts are optimistic that Higgins will be prepared to play in the preseason competition now that he is back running.

In Round 3, Higgins suffered a season-ending foot injury against Richmond, capping eight seasons marred by injuries during which he appeared in 109 games.

He underwent surgery to fix a fracture to his left foot’s navicular bone.

Tom Williams, another Bulldog who is prone to injuries, is recovering from a shoulder repair more quickly than anticipated.

After he injured his shoulder against Port Adelaide in Darwin during Round 10, he underwent a second shoulder repair.

Although Williams has been working out and running, the Bulldogs will be cautious with him because to his past injury history.

Due to persistent injuries to his legs and shoulders, he has only participated in five games over the last two seasons.

After dislocating his shoulder in the NAB Cup last year, he was limited to just three games.

The Queenslander was selected with pick six in the 2004 draft and has appeared in 78 games over the course of seven seasons.
