A pair of Mountaineers Leave the Football Department

In the spring, the NCAA Transfer Portal is anticipated to be visited by an offensive lineman and a running back from West Virginia.

According to a source who spoke with Mountaineers Now, running back DJ Oliver and offensive lineman Charlie Katarincic have left the West Virginia football team. The story was initially reported by 247 Sports.

Oliver rejected offers from the Air Force, Army, Central Michigan, Florida Atlantic, Middle Tennessee, Navy, South Florida, UAB, and other schools in favor of the Port Saint Joe High School (FL) Mountaineers. Oliver carried the ball 12 times for 47 yards and a score this past season in five games.

Oliver’s ability was well appreciated by head coach Saint Joe who decided to postpone playing him until the bowl game, where participation does not affect eligibility, although considering it strongly in the last weeks of the season.

Katarincic’s early years of development were somewhat hindered by the injuries he had during his first two years in the program.
