D’antre Robinson, a former four-star Longhorns signee, pledges to Florida
A member of the Texas Longhorns’ 2024 recruiting class, which is ranked as the second best in the nation, has left the team.

Texas lost a recruit from their 2024 recruiting class in the middle of making significant additions to their transfer portal, proving that college football is a sport that keeps you on your toes at all times.

Four-star defensive tackle D’antre Robinson of Orlando, Florida was anticipated to request Texas release him from his National Letter of Intent at the beginning of the week.

These were verified on Tuesday when it was reported by 247Sports that Robinson had been released from his university commitment.

It looks like Robinson will remain in the SEC, though.

The Florida Gators, who were fierce rivals for Robinson’s signature in the final stages before Robinson ultimately chose to sign with Texas, are the front-runners to sign him, according to a report from LonghornsCountry.com earlier this week.

Robinson declared his official commitment to the Gators on Friday, calling the squad his “dream school.”

Robinson told On3, “I just wanted to be closer with my family because Florida has been my dream school and some unexpected things happened at Texas.” “My family will find it much simpler to visit me on stage and to engage in any other activities they choose. Being nearer to my mommy dukes feels amazing, as I am a mommy’s son. I would have had family in Texas if I had continued, as my elder sister resides there. Being in my current situation feels great, and I am really pleased and proud of the choice I made. I am a family guy.

The Longhorns knew losing Davis may impact them, so here is the first instance of how devastating the loss is.

T’Vondre Sweat and Bryon Muprhy II became two of the nation’s greatest defensive tackles under Davis’ guidance, while Texas’ run defense as a whole ranked among the best in the nation.
Although Robinson’s loss is painful, the Longhorns have three additional defensive lineman in their class with names like Vernon Broughton and Alfred Collins who are prepared to take over as starters.

But now that they’re in the SEC and Robinson and the Gators are visiting Austin on November 9, they’ll have to play against each other frequently.
