Newer models of the Elemnt Bolt and Roam will also profit from integrated training plan elements.

According to a recent announcement from Wahoo, owners of its most recent generation of Elemnt Bolt and Elemnt Roam bike computers will have direct control over music playback, GoPro action cameras, and ANT+ enabled lights from the head unit itself. Users of the training programs Humango, Final Surge, Nolio, and Join will also be able to send training plans straight to their head units through the integration of these systems into the Wahoo user interface.

These new integrations follow the Atlanta brand’s determined effort to include more systems under its purview. Along with the addition of a new “dark mode” feature to assist users in varying lighting conditions, Wahoo has also recently included integration with Trailforks for off-road routes and a Core body temperature sensor.

Although the exact date of this feature’s release is still unknown, Wahoo has offered a preview of what it will include. It looks that users will be able to cycle through the built-in camera modes, start and stop recording, and view the duration of the recording all from the head unit screen.

Although it’s unclear which GoPro models are currently supported by this update, users should be able to utilize features without ever touching the camera itself because the most recent GoPro models have voice control for on and off.

You can now check the battery level and operate your ANT+-equipped light, like the Bontrager Flare RT and the Garmin Varia, directly from the head unit. Again, specifics are currently a little lacking, but for those who are concerned about their battery life, it is anticipated that the battery status would be a useful field among the typical workout data.

You won’t have to fish your phone out of your back pocket to see what you’re listening to, switch tracks, or adjust the volume if you use the best headphones for cycling, podcasts, music, or just white noise.

Workouts can already be sent to the head unit by users of the Wahoo SYSTM and TrainingPeaks platforms. With the same functionality, four new platforms—Humango, Final Surge, Nolio, and Join—are now supported.

Although not included in this set of updates, the dark mode is worth mentioning because it was introduced recently and hasn’t received much attention. A recent system update allows you to enable dark mode, which effectively turns all of the white text on your data fields into black, and vice versa, if you have trouble seeing them in certain lighting situations.
