After quarterback Tim Tebow and head coach Urban Meyer won two national titles in the middle of the 2000s, Florida was a major force in college football; however, the Gators have struggled in the tough SEC since then.
Billy Napier, the head coach of the Gators, is entering his third season in the role and has not yet finished above.500. Florida finished 5-7 last season and missed out on a bowl game; in 2022, the team finished 6-7 and lost in the Las Vegas Bowl.
Napier, the 44-year-old head coach in Gainsville, will probably lose his job if things don’t improve there this season. However, he received some excellent news on Thursday that will hopefully help him.
“USC inside offensive lineman Jason Zandamela has committed to Florida,” writes Hayes Fawcett of On3.com.
Jason Zandamela was only at his previous school for three months; most players who enter the portal have been there for a while before deciding it’s time for a change.
After spring ball concluded, the Clearwater native immediately jumped through the portal at USC, where he had enrolled in January of this year.
The 6-foot-3 offensive lineman, who ranked as the top interior offensive lineman in the 2024 class, should be able to contend for a starting position this season, according to 247sports.com.
