PL side now weighing up offer for ‘exceptional’ Leeds player – journalist

Crystal Palace are weighing up whether to make an offer for Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville.

That is according to Daily Telegraph journalist Mike McGrath, who claims Palace are admirers of the 21-year-old but will need to find out what Leeds’ intend to do with him before firming up their interest.

According to various reports, Summerville is expected to move on from Elland Road this summer following Leeds’ relegation from the Premier League in May.

Feyenoord and Everton are among the clubs to have been tenuously linked so far, with Palace now the latest side to reportedly hold an interest.

Palace will be in the market for new wide players this summer with talismanic figure Wilfried Zaha having departed for Turkey, and Michael Olise of interest to Manchester City and Chelsea.

At this stage it is unclear what sort of price Leeds will command for Summerville this summer, though £12 million has been branded about a couple of times.

Based on last season and the potential he undoubtedly has, Summerville could easily be worth double that when you consider the sort of prices other clubs are charging for their players.

Summerville enjoyed a breakthrough season last term, including netting four goals in as many games before the World Cup break, which prompted Michael Owen to label him as ‘exceptional’.

This latest update from McGrath does read as though Leeds are still undecided on what to do with Summerville, who could undoubtedly be a key player in the Championship.

He was handed his first start of pre-season in the number 10 position against AS Monaco on Saturday, where he looked extremely promising.
